How does the Malware / Viruses get onto our PC's / Workstations in the first place ?
This can be done in many ways, most are from website's especially childrens websites as they are an easy target, they don't know what Malware / Viruses are, other than a cold they get now and again! By clicking onto a streaming video link, downloading a free game, downloading a free screensaver, there are hundreds of ways that can trigger the install of the rogue application.
When you click on an install button or play link to a video, you are giving them permission to install the application on your PC, whilst you think your getting a free game or a funny video, your getting your machine compromised with all sorts of Malware, viruses, tojans, root kits etc.
Now the Malware and Viruses are installed during the installation of the rogue application, and yes they are real viruses! The rogue application says that it can remove these viruses for you if you pay a fee (normally $29) STOP THERE, DO NOT DO A SCAN OR DETECTION using this rogue application that has appeared on your machine, leave it !
At this stage you must download Malwarebytes using the links at the top of this page and perform a 'Quick Scan'. The longer you leave it the worse your machine will get. As time goes on it will get more infections due to your PC has been compromised until your machine is completely unusable, then you will have to get someone to either remove it bit by bit or re-image your PC or laptop from scratch. This as you know can be an huge avoidable expense !!

great product worked a treat thankyou. i had to use the rkill first on my pc in order to get it to work.
Hi rkill worked for me, it wouldn't install malwarebytes as the virus was stopping it from installing. ran rkill first and that closed down the processes from the virus. installed malwarebytes after and cleaned up. worked a treat thanks.
Sometimes the only way is to download malwarebytes and rkill onto a usb stick from a clean pc and then put it in the infected pc and run rkill first, then run the malwarebytes setup. let it update and then run a quick scan.
Please run the RKILL first on your PC or laptop and then run the Malwarebytes setup again if you are unable to install it first time. The viruses stop Malwarebytes from being installed, RKILL will stop all of the infected processes first to then allow a clean install of Malwarebytes.
I keep getting a message that the source fiile is corrupted when attempting to download the updated programme. Is this a virus problem or is there a source file problem?
I removed the previous version as it would not update.

Cheers for the explanation worked great. removed 178 viruses running a quick scan. make sure it updates first though, goto the update tab click update, it goes off and finds the latest update.

Thanks for the advice. ran the Malwarebytes checker and found 24 infections. Strangly an AVG scan didn't find any of these at all.

I spent ages trying to get rid of malware on my computer. I tried to send a guy a copy of my hijack this to take a look, he said that it was FULL of infections ! My thought's was 'Great' now what ? Then I found malwarebytes.co.uk and downloaded the free scanner. All I can say is 'WOW' it cleaned all the infected files, done a reboot and now my computer is back to normal again. Now you mention it, it kind of adds up why they do this type of thing. I had weird things popping up on my screen, i downloaded Malwarebytes and updated it, run a scan and it picked up a whole host of nasties. at the end of the scan it reported 164 !! it had to restart my machine in order to get rid of some of them. after it rebooted, my computer was back to normal. They could potentially make 100's of millions of pounds or dollars doing this, and get away with it. I downloaded Malwarebytes and found 57 threats and removed them. I had to do a reboot after, and my problem was solved ! thanks again John
